Guide · Choosing

Garage cleanout vs.
junk removal.

They sound like the same service and they are not. One carries things away. The other decides what goes — and that decision is the hard part.

Junk removal starts after the hard part is done.

If everything is already in a pile by the driveway, you want a hauler. If it is still on the shelves, you want a cleanout.

A junk removal crew arrives, loads what you point at, and drives away. It is fast, it is useful, and it is priced by how much space your pile takes in the truck. What it does not include is the part most people are actually stuck on: opening every box and deciding.

A garage cleanout is the whole job. The crew moves everything out, sorts it with you into keep, donate, and let go, hauls away what is leaving, and sweeps the room before handing it back. You point; they do the lifting and the logistics.

Side by side

What each one actually covers.

01

Junk removal

  • Does loads and hauls what you have already set aside
  • Priced by truck volume — how much space your pile fills
  • You do all sorting and decision-making, in advance
  • Ends when the truck pulls away
02

Garage cleanout

  • Does empties, sorts, hauls, donates, and sweeps
  • Priced by garage size, fixed in writing first
  • You do point and approve — no lifting, no logistics
  • Ends with a finished, usable room

Choosing

Which one is right for you?

Choose junk removal if you have already done the sorting, you know exactly what is leaving, and it is stacked and ready. You are buying muscle and a truck, and you should not pay cleanout prices for that.

Choose a garage cleanout if opening the door is the problem. If the decisions are unmade, the boxes are unopened, or the garage holds decades rather than months, the sorting is the service — and hauling is just the last step of it.

One honest caveat: a cleanout costs more than a haul-away, because it includes hours of labor a truck does not. If your garage is genuinely already sorted, a hauler is the better value and we will tell you so.

The third option

Cleared is not the same as finished.

An empty garage fills back up within a year unless the space is given a structure. Our Refresh adds the part that makes it stick — zoning, overhead racks, wall systems, and labeled bins — so what you cleared stays clear.

Questions

Good to know.

Junk removal hauls away items you have already sorted and set aside, priced by truck volume. A garage cleanout is the full job — emptying the space, sorting everything into keep, donate, and haul, removing what is leaving, and sweeping the room. The sorting labor is the main difference.

Usually yes, because it includes hours of sorting and decision-making labor that a haul-away does not. If your garage is genuinely already sorted and stacked, junk removal is the better value.

No. Sorting with you is the service. You point out what stays and what goes; we handle all the moving, hauling, and donation runs.

Yes. Anything with life left is donated or rehomed rather than dumped, and anything of value is set aside for your decision before it leaves.
